Using the Maya interface, college students apply the fundamentals of animation via easy workout routines that include the bouncing ball, a blade of grass and a pendulum. Students recognize the artwork of lighting, rendering and modelling as a key part of animation, by discussing three-point lighting, primary modelling and the application of rendering methods. Using largely traditional drawing techniques, complemented by 2D tradigital, students apply the fundamental rules of animation and drawing through easy, object-oriented assignments. Focus is on the fundamentals of timing, spacing and the `cartoon’ physics of motion.
